I ride to pay it forward; to honor and thank those who had the foresight and dedication to raise funds for the research that led to today’s successful treatments; to provide hope to those with cancer now and for those who will be diagnosed with cancer tomorrow; to fund the breakthrough research that will lead to the next successful treatment, which is so close, so tantalizingly close.
I ride to sneak in one last day of summer; to experience the unexpected; to enjoy the camaraderie of the BC community along the route (and the food trucks and beer at the end of the ride); to learn of the latest successes and personal triumphs against cancer over the past year; to celebrate being cancer-free; to conquer the hill at mile 35; to banish hospice as a treatment option.
I ride to thank the doctors and nurses who work long shifts, nights, and weekends in their tireless efforts cure cancer and care for those currently undergoing treatment.
I ride to honor the memory of those who died too soon, before we could find a successful treatment.
