Facebook Fundraiser Integration

A Facebook fundraiser will allow you to share your story and collect donations directly through Facebook. When you create a Facebook fundraiser through your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page, donations will show up in real-time and will count towards your personal and team fundraising goals. There are many benefits to creating a linked Facebook fundraiser including:

  • Real-time syncing to your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page, helping you to reach your goal

  • The ability to invite all of your Facebook friends to your fundraiser

  • The ability to easily post fundraising updates and thank donors on your Facebook fundraiser.

Creating a Facebook Fundraiser

During Registration: As you complete your event registration, click “Fundraising Page Setup”. Click “Edit Personal Page” and then click the "Create Your Facebook Fundraiser” button below donation goal and follow the instructions.

After Registration: Log in to your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page and click “Edit Personal Page”. Click the “Create Your Facebook Fundraiser” button below donation goal and follow the instructions.

Facebook fundraisers will automatically end when event fundraising on the Breakthrough Challenge site ends.

Please note: If you set up a fundraiser directly through Facebook and not through the Breakthrough Challenge page, it will not sync your donations.

Fundraiser Syncing

Donations from your Facebook fundraiser will sync in real-time with your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page. Note - donations made on your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page will not be added to your Facebook fundraiser.

Your Facebook fundraiser will automatically be set up with details from your Breakthrough Challenge page such as photo, story and donation goal. You can edit these details on your Facebook fundraiser after set up is complete. However, any changes made will not be reflected on the Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page and any changes made on your Breakthrough Challenge page will not be synced to your Facebook fundraiser.

Donation Information

100% of all donations raised with your Facebook fundraiser less any fees charged, go toward your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising goal, benefitting Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center.

Facebook's privacy policy only allows donors to show as “Facebook Fundraiser” on your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising history. You can see who donated to you by looking at your fundraising on Facebook. Some donations might be listed as private if the donor opted out of information sharing.

Facebook fundraisers can only accept U.S. donations. If someone would like to make an international donation, they can do so on the Breakthrough Challenge website.

Receipts and Refunds

Donors will receive a receipt from Facebook to the email address associated with their account. The receipt will include Breakthrough Challenge's EIN/tax ID number.

If you need to request a refund from Facebook, you can use the donation support form.

Apps and Other Fundraising Tools

Facebook fundraisers are not meant to replace your Breakthrough Challenge fundraising page. We still encourage you to use your fundraising page, email donors and more to help meet and exceed your fundraising goals.
